Just Say It Already!

I have not forgotten about you blog! It's not like I don't have anything to say it's just... Life is a little overwhelming at the moment. :-). The problem is I have so much to say that I don't know where to start. And once I start, I don't know if I could stop. And perhaps some of it I shouldn't say (because it's not really that interesting). But if I don't say it, who will? Does it need to be said? I don't know... But it is fun to Say Something!

Who Is This Boy's Mother!?!

Good Mom: It's very important to me that my son knows how to cook. He helps me and Matt quite a bit in the kitchen and loves it!

Bad Mom: This is Jeremiah's favorite part of cooking. Yes, that's right, his head is in the mixing bowl because he is licking it!

Boys will be Boys

This is what happens when momma leaves the baby with the boys. Poor girl. But don't worry - Jeremiah did it out of love for his baby sister. Jeremiah had a turn inside the box and thought sister needed a turn too! Sweet, I know, but she doesn't seem to be appreciating it very much.

These Boots Were Made For Walkin'

Just like the good ol' days...

I recently discovered that my love language is "Quality Time". If you've never taken the "5 Love Languages" quiz or have read the book, I highly recommend it. You can learn a lot about the relationships you are in, how you show love and how you feel loved from others. Very interesting!
Well, it's no secret that I love spending time with Matthew, hence the Quality Time love language. Last week we found ourselves overwhelmed with work and had to stay up late a couple of nights to get it done. So here is a picture of us spending time together on our laptops at about 11:30 pm doing two different things. We used to do this when I was in school too, he would stay up with me while I finished my homework. I just wanted him there regardless if we actually spoke to one another. Now granted we would rather be spending Quality Time on a beach somewhere but I'll take what I can get. :-)

Better Late Than Never!

"Couple's" Holidays, such as Valentine's Day, take on a whole new meaning when you have kids...and when it falls on a Monday. So I planned a fun family dinner for four to make for a Valentine's Night at home. Then, to my most pleasant surprise, my mom and dad asked to take all the grandkids out for dinner on Valentine's Day and give mommy & daddy a chance to go on a date! Thank you, Mom! So my fun family dinner was put on hold for a couple of days - no problem. But then came the flu of the century and knocked me flat on my rear end for 8, yes 8, days! So my super fun family Valentine's dinner for four didn't happen until this past Saturday. :-). Oh well, we still had fun! Spaghetti and Meatballs are romantic, right? But they're RED so we served it!
Garlic Bread on Jalapeño Cheddar bagels, green beans, and red hot applesauce. Every year for Valentine's my mom would make us red hot applesauce so I've just carried the tradition. What is a fun Valentine's Dinner without dessert? Our tradition is "Leftover Conversation Heart Cake". My son loves making this with me because he gets to smash the heart candies with the meat mallet - FUN! And noisy. This recipe comes from a newspaper clipping that my good friend, Melody Sanders sent to me when I lived in Illinois...it's been a tradition ever since!
